Privacy Policy

Who we are

Forge is published by the Forge developer. You can reach us at dylan@djdesigns.ca with any privacy questions or requests.

What stays on your device

Everything you create in Forge is stored locally on your device using your operating system's app storage. Unless you turn on cloud backup by creating an account (see below), this content is never uploaded anywhere. That includes:

• Your profile (name, profile photo, age range, the life areas you choose, goals, and motivations)
• Habits, tasks, and goals, and their completion history and streaks
• Journal entries, including your written reflections and gratitude notes
• Workouts, sets, weights, and your body metrics (weight, height, sex, fitness goal)
• Focus and mindfulness sessions, XP, levels, badges, and forge progress
• Your reminder and AI preferences

If you have not created an account, this data lives only on your device, so we cannot see it, recover it, or restore it for you. If you delete the app or use "Reset all data" in your profile, it is gone.

Accounts and cloud backup (optional, off by default)

Forge works fully without an account. You can optionally create one with your email and a password to back up your data and sync it across your devices and after a reinstall. Creating an account is the only time we store your content off your device.

When you sign in, your app data (the same content listed in "What stays on your device") is uploaded to our cloud-backup provider, Supabase, Inc., and kept as a single private record tied to your account. Access is locked down so that only your signed-in account can read or write your own data. We use your email address only to operate your account (sign-in and account recovery); we do not use it for marketing.

Supabase, Inc. processes and stores this data on our behalf under its own security and privacy practices. We do not send your data to any other party as part of backup, and your journal writing is included in your private backup but is never sent to the AI providers.

You stay in control: sign out at any time to stop syncing, and delete your account from your profile to permanently remove your account and its cloud backup. Deleting your account does not erase the copy on your device; use "Reset all data" for that.

If you add friends, a small profile (your display name and your standing: overall rating, percentile, and best streak) is shared with the friends you connect with, so the leaderboard works. Your habits, journal, goals, and other content are never shared with other users. People can only connect with you using the invite code you choose to share, and you can remove a friend at any time.

AI coaching (optional, off by default)

Forge offers optional AI coaching features, such as plan generation, workout suggestions, the evening check-in, and the weekly review. These are turned OFF until you explicitly enable AI coaching in the app. No data is sent anywhere while AI coaching is off.

When you enable AI coaching and use one of these features, Forge sends a limited, feature-specific slice of your data to a third-party AI provider (Groq, Inc. and Google LLC) so it can generate a response. Depending on the feature, this may include:

• Habit names and current streaks, and the text of your open to-dos
• Your XP by life area for the day or week, and your current streaks
• The number of journal entries and your average mood as a number (1–5)
• Your body weight, height, sex, and fitness goal, and your recent workout history
• The goal text you type when asking for a plan

What we never send: the written text of your journal entries or gratitude notes. Only the count of entries and a numeric average mood are ever used. We also do not send your contact details, location, or device identifiers.

The AI providers process this data on their own servers under their own privacy policies and terms. We do not control their practices. You can review them at the providers' websites (Groq and Google). You can turn AI coaching off at any time in your profile, which stops all further data sharing.

What we do NOT do

• We do not use analytics, crash-reporting, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
• We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information for advertising.
• We do not create profiles of you across apps or websites.
• We do not require an account to use the app; it is optional and only enables cloud backup.
• We do not use your account email for marketing.

Notifications

If you turn on reminders, Forge schedules local notifications directly on your device. These do not use push servers or device tokens, and no reminder data is sent off your device. You can turn reminders off in your profile or in your system settings at any time.

Sensitive information

Some of what you choose to enter may be sensitive, such as an age range, a faith or religion focus area, and health- and fitness-related details. This information is treated like all other content: it stays on your device unless you enable AI coaching, in which case only the specific fields described above are shared with the AI provider to generate coaching. Please avoid entering information you are not comfortable storing on your device.

Children's privacy

Forge is for ages 13 and up. Onboarding includes an age check, and anyone who indicates they are under 13 cannot continue. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The age range you select is stored on your device only to tailor encouragement, and is not used to track or identify anyone. If you are under the age of majority where you live, please use Forge with a parent or guardian, and do not enable AI coaching without their permission. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through a feature that sends data off-device, contact us at dylan@djdesigns.ca and we will delete it.

Health, fitness, and AI disclaimer

Forge is a self-improvement and habit tool, not a medical, mental-health, fitness, nutritional, financial, or other professional service. Its content, including workouts and any AI-generated coaching, is general information only and is not a substitute for professional advice. Exercise carries a risk of injury: consult a physician before starting any exercise program, and stop if you feel unwell. AI coaching is optional and powered by third-party models; its output can be inaccurate or unsuitable, so treat it as a suggestion and use your own judgment. You use these features at your own risk. If you are experiencing a medical or mental-health emergency, contact your local emergency services. Full terms are in our Terms of Service.

Website waitlist

If you join the launch waitlist on this website, we store the email address you submit with Supabase for the single purpose of sending you one notification when Forge launches, plus the rare important update. We ask for your consent at signup, every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to remove your address at any time by emailing dylan@djdesigns.ca. This waitlist is separate from your in-app account; we do not use it to profile you or sell your address.

Your choices and rights

• Accounts are optional; you can use the whole app without one.
• AI coaching is off by default; you can enable or disable it any time in your profile.
• Reminders are optional and controlled by you.
• You can edit or delete any item in the app, or erase everything on your device with "Reset all data".
• If you created an account, you can sign out to stop syncing, or delete your account to permanently remove its cloud backup.

When you have no account, your data lives only on your device, so requests to access, correct, or delete it are satisfied entirely from within the app. When you have an account, your cloud backup is removed when you delete your account. If you have questions about your rights under applicable privacy laws (such as Canada's PIPEDA or similar laws in your region), contact us at dylan@djdesigns.ca.

Data retention

If you have no account, we retain none of your data, because we never receive it. Your content persists on your device until you delete it. If you have an account, your cloud backup is retained by our backup provider until you delete your account, at which point it is removed. AI providers may retain request data for a period under their own policies; refer to those providers for details.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we make a material change, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, note it in the app. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
